This business filled with joy and gratitude got its start due to a devastating tragedy: Love, Lori is dedicated to the life and memory of my brother Guy Barzvi, who was killed on 9/11 at the age of 29 in the World Trade Center attacks in New York City. The night before he died, Guy told me that he wasn't happy in his job. He had dreams of going out on his own and becoming an entrepreneur. The next day, he was taken from us forever.
Just three years after enduring the loss of my older brother, my father Arie, a restauranteur, was diagnosed with lung cancer and passed away just months later. I found myself with no choice but to quit my corporate job and figure out how to run a restaurant business on my own.
It didn't take me long to figure out that the restaurant business wasn't for me, and my thoughts returned to my last conversation with Guy, of his dreams to have something for himself. I knew that those words would stay with me forever, and that the best way to honor my brother would be by living out his dream since he wasn't here to do so himself - to find something to do that I loved. I started doing some real soul searching.
One night I went to the movies and saw Jennifer Lopez in Shall We Dance. After signing up for dance lessons the very next morning, I fell head over heels in love with dancing, and danced up a storm, personally and professionally for the next several years - even opening a studio for several years. Tired, battered dancers' feet were the next clue along the way to figuring out my true purpose, though.
You see, while the dance studio didn't work out, my love of dance led me to accidentally come up with an idea for a more convenient way to take care of those rough, dry cracked feet we have all experienced at one time or another. It took me several years to figure out how to take an idea that was in my head to something that was actually tangible. I was tenacious, though, and persistent, and committed, and I believed in myself and my product, and with all that on my side, I was able to make my dream a reality.
That dream took the form of My Solemate, an innovative 2-in-1 pumice stone with moisturizing soap that is safe, easy to use, and - most importantly - effective. And it smells great too! My Solemate has earned rave reviews on Good Morning America receiving an almost unprecedented A rating! It has also been on NBC Today where Diva Mom's and author Lyss Stern calls it her favorite Mothers Day Product.
I live in New York City with my two rescue dogs, Gizmo and Charlie.
