After years donating a portion of my profits to The Sato Project, dedicated to rescuing dogs in Puerto Rico, I was recently moved to make a change. Watching the heartbreaking testimony of 9/11 first responder Luis Alvarez and others, and the impassioned pleas of Jon Stewart on their behalf as they testified to Congress this past June, I knew what I had to do. While my rescue pups Gizmo and Charlie (right) have saved me over and over again, I have an intrinsic emotional bond with those first responders and owe them a special debt of gratitude beyond that which we as a nation will owe them forever. And so, beginning at 12:01 am tomorrow, July 4, 2019, I will donate a portion of all my profits to 9/11 Health Watch, an organization dedicated to making sure our country remembers and cares for the heroes and survivors of 9/11.
Losing my brother, Guy, was the impetus behind my decision to seize the day and start this company. I wanted to do something to honor his vision for a life that was more than a "work-a-day" job. Using sales of my products to support these first responders who continue to suffer so many years on from the events of that day is another way to honor Guy's gracious spirit, as well as to provide my customers with a small way to participate in thanking these people who lifted our country out of one of its darkest times.
Thank you for supporting Love, Lori, and thank you for supporting first responders everywhere, especially those who responded to the events of September 11, 2001.
